Things of the Day, Thursday Edition

Quote of the Day: (QotD Archives)
"Christianity has done a great deal for love by making a sin of it."
--Anatole France

Soul-Devouring Worry:
Too few things, too many days.

Answer of the Day:
Because they're never available used at Blockbuster.

Curse of the Day:
May you be all ready to go, and have two days to wait.

Books Lying Open:
Clash of Kings, by George R. R. Martin
The Seventh Scroll, by Wilbur Smith

Movies to-see list:
Land of the Dead, June 24th
War of the Worlds, June 29th
Fantastic Four, July 8th
Batman Begins
Mr. & Mrs. Smith
Comments:

I thought you weren't going to see War of the Worlds because of the screaming girl/muppet that Spielberg keeps subjecting the viewers to?

At this point the explosions and special effects look good enough to outweigh the Tom Cruise factor, and even Speilberg's requisite, "big-eyed white, blonde, scared girl staring on in terror as her face fills the entire screen" factor. That may yet change, though.

The list is more of a "planning to" rather than a "set in stone" list anyway. Land of the Dead is on the list now, but it might get bumped with War of the Worlds opening just 5 days later, if the negative reviews keep piling up.

I haven't made the list up more than a few weeks in advance, but the only coming film on the imaginary list that's set in proverbial stone is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, since I'm curious and because Malaya is goo goo for Johnny Depp when he's playing one of his weirdo characters. And I say that despite the fact that the full Charlie trailer is damn lame.

Howl's Moving Castle isn't on your movies to see list? You gave Spirited Away an 8, I noticed.
