Um, we have had some months in the past 14 months with job growth.
Wait, what am I thinking?!? We're talking Nancy Pelosi here; possibly the most staunch opponent of untruths and misdirection that has ever graced the Senate floor. I wouldn't dream of second guessing statistical information published by her!
Whoops, I mean the House.
I guess she and I need to watch what we say a little more closely! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8hMJVXt09E
Anonymous looks like a Republican, the ones that got us into this mess in the first place. The mistake of saying Pelosi is in the Senate (quickly retracted) is most Bushlike, except for the honorable admission of the error.
Dumbo Bush was handed a friggin' surplus when he took office, and he left us a mindboggling deficit that will ruin the lives of our children's children. How can anyone stay a Republican and sleep well at night?
"How can anyone stay a Republican and sleep well at night?"
Political affiliation is much like religion and other life philosophies; they are often far from evidence based. People decide what they "are" at some point, or decide upon policies they like, and stick with them through thick and thin. Witness the Republican obstructionism to Obama's economic plan, which is mostly based around Grover Norquist-style "tax cuts are the only solution to any economic issue." It doesn't matter that no reputable economist says that tax cuts can do much of anything in our current financial situation; they grew up being told that tax cuts are always a good thing, so they're sticking with it, even as the US has the least progressive tax code in the Western world, and one that's far flatter than it's ever been in modern US history.
Obama has not sold me on his stimulus plan. His motivation seems to only be to spend a lot of money, without particularly caring about if it is lining someone's pockets. I don't oppose a stimulus plan out of hand, but I want it to go to things that will give us the most bang-for-the-buck jobwise. We are already regretting the billions squandered in the Wall Street bailout. Shouldn't we approach this one more carefully?

Republicans got us into this mess? No, Americans did. We bought everything on credit, bought shit we couldn't afford. Sure, the ahole CEOS didn't help, but we can't blame them for everything. Now the house of cards is tumbling down.
